We hope you had a lovely first week back and are enjoying Epiphany term so far! We have lots of exciting things coming up this week – Chinese New Year celebrations, huge exec elections and Open Day rep applications! Take a look below to see all the fantastic things going on in the JCR this week…

Chinese New Year Gala and Crafts (10:45-4:15): come watch a live screening of the gala and make some decorations in the bar, and be there for the countdown at 4pm (12am in Beijing)!

Australia Day!
Come to JB’s and celebrate the national day of your Assuie bar Steward! All in support of charities working to help the Australian bush-fires.
Excitingly, we have 5 exec positions up for grabs in the next JCR meeting, and 5 lovely candidates for the roles! And they are:

This position has rolled over to the next meeting, so if you’re interested in the JB’s Kitchen you can start planning your campaign already!

Additionally, we have some non-exec positions up for grabs, which are:
Yearbook Editor (Individual): create a yearbook to celebrate the graduating year!
Assistant DSU Rep (Individual): help the DSU rep in promoting and integrating student union events around college
Careers Rep (Individual): promote Durham Uni careers events and help students stay aware of job opportunities
Please ask Oisin if you would like some more details on these positions, and happy as ever to answer any questions!
Remember if you are interested in other upcoming exec positions to arrange meetings with appropriate college staff!
SHAG Week Raffle
Also at Sunday’s JCR Meeting we will be having a raffle to win either a vibrator or a set of Durex flavoured lube to start off SHAG Week! The cost of the raffle tickets will be donated to the National AIDS Trust

24 Hour Cricket

24 hour cricket is back! JBCCC are once again playing 24 hours of cricket, starting from 9am on Friday 31st January, and all through the post Klute hours until the following morning.

After last years incredible success, we have chosen to again raise funds for Alexandra’s Awareness Campaign. This is a cause which is incredibly close to us at JBCCC and aims to raise awareness of mental health issues and suicide.

Attention 2020 Graduates!
We have 3 graduation formals this year, look at the posters below for more information. This formal is open to your friends and family! It is such a lovely event, I would highly recommend it.

Kosovo Internship

Josephine Butler is offering an exciting internship for a highly motivated student with D4D, a Kosovo-based policy level think-tank organisation that promotes democracy and development.

The internship will involve research, providing analysis, editing, and assisting project team members with various projects. The unpaid internship lasts for one month and the successful candidate will receive a bursary of £600 to help cover living costs in Pristina.
