Hi everyone,

I hope you are all keeping well and that coursework and revision is going ok! I’m coming at you with another lovely list of activities to keep you entertained right from the comfort of your sofa/bed/dining room table.

Huge thank you to everyone who has been continuing to play such an active role in sharing games/quizzes/ideas within our community. It is really wonderful seeing everyone interacting and looking out for each other! We are after all, all in this together.

Butler Positive Pandemic Pastimes Group
I just want to plug this facebook group once again which I’ve set up. It is filled with positive pastimes to keep you entertained! It is actually where all of these activities are being posted first and foremost. I’m going through the page pulling things off to circulate on here too so I would seriously recommend joining it!
(Staff reading this – that’s you too! Come and show us up at the quizzes and share activities with us too!)

I want this to be a little hub of activity for all of you, where you can post links to quizzes, games, challenges, anything you see that you think will keep people happy, entertained and in communication with each other!

You guys have been smashing the quizzes in there so far and I’m loving it.
Though on the film quiz we are still stuck on some and some are up for debate sooo if you’re not in the group yet we could really use more help!

If ๐Ÿ”• ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ is Silence Of The Lambs, and ๐Ÿ‘ฆ ๐Ÿ‘ โœ‚ โœ‚ is Edward Scissor Hands for example, then what on earth is:

๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘ณ We have no idea, anyone else?

๐Ÿšฒ ๐Ÿšฒ โ˜€ Still no clue on this one either?

๐Ÿ•‘ ๐Ÿ•’ ๐Ÿ•“ ๐Ÿ•” A few ideas, but still stuck! Network / Back to the Future / The Hours / About Time ?

๐Ÿ‘ด ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’ Not sure either! A Very Long Engagement? LOTR?

JB’s Recipes – Your favourite JB’s food from home!

Our wonderful Food Services Officer, Chris, is working away at home coming up with the most wonderful replication of your favourite JB’s dishes.

The first recipe he has cooked up is a Tikka Masala – with variations for the meat eaters, the vegans, and those who are gluten free!

โ€‹โ€‹Learn Kung Fu with Charlotte!
โ€‹Not many people know this, but I actually used to do Kung Fu in my pre-uni life, before I threw the towel in and took up a far cooler sport, rowing. So I have been using my spare time refreshing my memory of everything, and I have uploaded a really basic tutorial to Youtube. I thought it might be a fun chance for people to learn a new skill and keep fit from their bedrooms. Check it out here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

Strava Club – Jogsephine Butler
Get it? JOGsephine Butler! Because Strava is an app to record running and cycling on! Ha ha ha

Seriously check out this app and join the club. It is a really easy way to keep motivated together by checking out what one-government-sanctioned-activity everyone is doing each day.

I know if I can see all of the effort everyone else is putting in it makes me far more likely to brave the weather and head outside for a run (well ‘run’… more like a jog… or a walk).

Kudos to BCBC for the idea, they made one for their club to keep up with training remotely. A great shout! Why don’t you suggest the same to your club?

(Also get it? Kudos? Like on Strava. Someone stop me please)

@ Learn Kung Fu With Charlotte
I hope I Rick Rolled some of you there.
I did actually do Kung Fu for about two years before uni, and Thai Boxing at the SU in my first year of uni. I won’t be doing tutorials any time soon though, trust me ๐Ÿ˜… (Also, rowing isn’t cool)

As I said at the start, do keep coming forward with ideas! Thank you all for the submissions I have had already.

Day #10 of working from home for me now and Teams is all starting to feel the norm. I have been spending the past few days working on the website (๐ŸŽ‰ I’m still excited about this), making some POVD videos (check them out), and in all sorts of meetings with college staff, Pres Comm, and the PVC, so a bit here there and everywhere.
I am still posting on butler.pres with our countdown of top ten moments so do check that out! It is so nice to look back on all the awesome stuff you’ve done. The website also has ever growing News Articles going up as you send stuff in and I do some digging around. I am also trying to keep coming up with quizzes and challenges in Positive Pandemic Pastimes, because I do just love a cheeky quiz, but if you have any other ideas on what you want to see/what platforms you would rather me use just let me know (e.g. instagram story challenges?๐Ÿ‘€)
Club captains and presidents – I am going to start cracking on with processing your JCR claims. They will all be processed by bank transfer. If you had a cheque written out in the office and never collected it, I will be bank transfering you too and destroying the cheque – no one will be out of pocket, I’m getting to it!
Our new exec are working their socks off to ensure that you all still have an online college experience, but if you have any ideas at all on how we can deliver upcoming events virtually please drop me a line! I promise we are all doing as much as we can to give you guys a wicked third term, that’s virtually supporting you through the exam period like we usually do with Take A Break, and finding how we can virtually celebrate your achievements too โค๏ธ

If there is more we can be doing to support you just let me know. Whilst I am trying to find ways to make sure you are taking time off and staying in communication with people and socialising virtually, I hope you are also all managing to crack down with work ok too! You are all totally amazing.

I hope you are all looking after yourselves and know that I am always here if you want to email/Facebook message/Instagram message/Teams Call??/Zoom Call??

Sending lots of JCR love and best wishes from afar ๐Ÿ™‚
