The Mound Magazine

Intercollegiate Strava Competition

By |February 26th, 2021|Categories: JCR News|0 Comments

From Monday 8th until Sunday 21st March Team Durham will be holding an inter-collegiate strata competition measuring how much each college is running/walking or cycling. Therefore what we’re going to need is for you guys to get out and get active, whether you run, walk or cycle! For the remainder of the Term what I am asking for you guys to do is to fill out this quick form to log how far you travelled and hopefully every little bit can cumulatively get us to the top of the Leagues! Click here to log your distance! (It takes 20 seconds)

JCR Elections Open!

By |February 22nd, 2021|Categories: Democracy Update, JCR News|0 Comments

Voting for the recent JCR has just opened here. There are two motions to vote on as well as the Vice Chair, Sports Officer, Societies Officer, Welfare Officers and JCR President elections to vote on. Check you emails for the minutes from the meeting so that you can read everyone's speeches. Jake will also be uploading the zoom recording to YouTube with time markers so that you can watch them as well. For those of you who missed the meeting, we also had what I think was the funniest presidential challenge yet: the roast of Sam Winder. Watch how Shireen and Emily performed! Finally, echoing what I said in the meeting, there is a short time between this meeting and the next, so posters for these Exec roles are due this Saturday. (If the Tech Director motion passes, this will also include Tech Director) FACSO (Must meet with Karen beforehand) JCR Vice President JCR Chair International Officer Publicity Officer Food Services Officer If you are interested in any of these exec roles, please let me know and get your poster to Jake by Saturday!

Exciting Opportunity – Become a Trustee of new Common Room Charity

By |February 18th, 2021|Categories: Alumni, JCR News|0 Comments

Josephine Butler JCR and MCR are looking to merge and establish a joint Charitable Incorporated Organisation, joining the growing ranks of independent charity Common Rooms. To facilitate this, we're provisionally recruiting Trustees to sit on our Board. As a Trustee, you will provide strategic leadership and guidance of the charity's operations and resource management, working with student leaders to make sure every Butlerite is supported during their studies. If you're passionate about Higher Education and the Wider Student Experience, and would like to use your skills and background to steer a new charity towards success, please email kamil.hepak@durham.ac.uk with the subject line "JBCR Trustee" to find out more details! Applications especially (but not exclusively!) welcome from those with backgrounds in contract law and finance, experience with charity governance, and who are within commuting distance of Durham.
